RESEARCH

I assessed community variation of fish, invertebrates, and microbes in an intermittent stream for my Master’s. Of course since there is no way to ‘count’ microbes as we can with fish and invertebrates, I had to use a different method-16S rRNA sequencing. This is where I had my first glimpse and became fascinated by the complex molecular world- especially how we can use molecular data to answer countless questions regarding conservation and management. In the Peery lab, I am a researcher in the Molecular lab, assisting the lab manager and other graduate students with multiple projects; however, my main projects are in population genetics and analysis of barred owl diet using custom primer design.
