RESEARCH
I am an Ecological Data Analyst/Manager for the California bioacoustic monitoring program, which aims to inform biodiversity conservation and management planning via passive acoustic surveys. My role in the lab is to write code to streamline and automate acoustic data management processes, perform data analyses, and contribute to research projects. I also enjoy using my skills in data science and R programming to support graduate students, staff, and our external partners with their research questions and information needs.
My background is primarily in avian ecology, and I have worked on a variety of research projects across the US and Neotropics studying migratory songbirds, northern spotted owls, and American kestrels. For my MS research at North Carolina State University, I investigated the space-use and breeding ecology of the Bachman’s sparrow in response to prescribed fire and habitat loss in the longleaf pine ecosystem. Most recently, I worked as a research scientist at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on several projects to inform waterfowl conservation and management in Wisconsin. I also developed an R package and standardized workflow to support occupancy and abundance analyses of trail camera data for the Snapshot Wisconsin project.
